The Goat on Jett Lawrence

Two of the best to ever race AMA motocross or supercross Ricky Carmichael and Ryan Villopoto are impressed and they should be. The GOAT and a guy who was not only a GP winner, but multi time winner of AMA titles give Aussie, Jett Lawrence some compliments.

When two men like this speak, it sure resonates more than most of the other current US media, who haven’t raced at the highest level and are generally, just fans who got lucky to be involved in the media room (and I say that as a media who is a similar position as a fan who just got lucky).

Ricky Carmichael: Jett continues to dominate. He goes down, comes from 18th to first, passing the best guys in the World. When I was watching him, it didn’t seem like he was in desperation mode, but what RV said, he was tactical and patient with every single pass. He didn’t go berserk and let those guys come to him and made nice passes. For me, I would go into desperation mode, taking more chances and he didn’t seem like that. Obviously, if he is putting in more effort, you can tell where he is at, but he still looks smoother that myself, or like you (RV) did, you could tell, we were exerting a lot of effort. For me, it isn’t a surprise he came from where he did. The guy is just that good. When we talk about Eli, he is riding awesome, but is riding against one of the best ever, who is breaking records and has the tangibles to be the best ever.

Ryan Villopoto: We haven’t seen Jett make a mistake like that; it was different. He dropped to 18th place, and we saw an amazing ride by Jett, but not surprising. Jett was on rails and in my opinion, he wasn’t blowing everyone’s doors off, but watching him, he navigated through the field and a great race, watching him fall and coming through the pack, rather than win from the front. I loved to see him come through the pack, because he rode different lines and rode perfectly. Both Lawrences are riding well. The whole field rode well, Prado rode well, but Jett is another level above. What I loved seeing the tip-over and the fighting through, because we never see that, because he always starts up front.
