The Sandmaster - Video

Red Bull KTM Factory rider Jeffrey Herlings is 100% fit again, fit like he was at the back end of 2017 when he travelled to America and dominated their champion Eli Tomac and 2018 when he won his first and only MXGP championship. His foot injury in the winter of 2019, an injury that forced him to change his style, and forced some of his errors, including that one in Faenza.

Having won 17 from 19 Grands Prix in 2018, "The Bullet would sit out most of 2019 and just didn't look the same on the bike. Well, now he does, as his practice mechanic and good friend Ruben Tureluren told us.

“That was our only goal after his crash in Faenza, to get that foot better. We knew we needed another operation, and we decided after speaking to KTM that it was best to get that foot fixed. We got improvements after the operation and again late in 2020 we did another treatment and the doctors approved that and then we got more improvement. A lot of physio work and we are also working closely with the athletic performance centre from Red Bull in Austria and we are doing everything we can, and the foot is better and that means Jeffrey has a better position on the bike. Hopefully we can now see the old Jeffrey with his ass on the rear fender and like things we saw in that video. We need him riding like he used to ride and like Stefan rode, or Prado rides or Antonio rides, with his toes on the pegs, to get that extra bit of suspension and that foot mobilization and he can be better than he was in 2020.”

So, let's see what the sandman can do now in 2021. How about joining Roger De Coster, Eric Gebores, Joel Smets and Georges Jobe as a five time World champion.
