Valin Wins Saturday - France
Mathis Valin on the factory Kawasaki has won the MX2 qualification race in France today. The Frenchman led early, was passed by Guillem Farres, but regained the lead and won Liam Everts and Janis Reisulis.
Mathis Valin: I was looking good. Good start finally and pushing. The track isn’t easy but very happy to do it in front of the crowd. Let’s do it again tomorrow.
Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder (GER, KTM), 249 points; 2. Sacha Coenen (BEL, KTM), 245 p.; 3. Guillem Farres (ESP, TRI), 211 p.; 4. Liam Everts (BEL, HUS), 211 p.; 5. Camden Mc Lellan (RSA, TRI), 191pts.
MX2 Qualification race
Valin led the MX2 qualification race from Farres, Lata, Janis Reislus, Everts, Garcia, McLellan, Karssemakers, Zanchi, and Sasha Coenen 10th. Team-mate to Garcia, Cannon in 15th place and not bad from both EMX riders. Langenfelder well back in 12th place. Coenen in 13th, so maybe a mistake by the Belgian?
Farres into the lead as he passed Valin, and Everts into third place as he passed both Reisulis and Lata. Farres a crash and Valin again in the lead, with the top ten on lap three Valin, Everts, Reisulis, Lata, Garcia, Farres, Zanchi, McLellan, Karssemakers and Karlis Reisulis.
Lap five and the lead by Valin was four seconds over Everts, with Janis Reisulis pretty close to the Belgian, then came Lata, Farres, McLellan, Garcia, McLellan, Zanchi, Coenen and Karssemakers. Langenfelder was 11.
Coenen up to eighth place and the championship points gap was closes as Langenfelder into 10th and a one point lead over Coenen in the championship standings. Valin’s lead was now 5.2 over Everts with Reisulis now eight seconds off the leader.
Coenen dropping spots as he fell to ninth, then 10th as Langenfelder passed the Belgian. Top ten on lap 11 was Valin, Everts, Reisulis, Farres, Lata, McLellan, Garcia, Zanchi, Langengelder and Coenen. Garcia also losing places quickly now as he dropped to 8th place, with Langenfelder up to seventh spot. Valin wins it from Everts and Reisulis.
