Dirt Store Triumph rider, Ben Watson has won this weekends round of the Motul British Motocross championship. Going 2-1, the former GP factory rider looked solid on a circuit he clearly loves. Second was Conrad Mewse with 1-3 and third Oriol Oliver with 3-2 scores.

Ben Watson: That was the big focus for the second race, to get the start, because the first race I was at the back of that pack and I could sit behind Oriol a good part of the race, but I knew passing him was going to be difficult, with how close we were today. I really focused on the start and I always do, but I just executed really well. I got the holeshot and put in some good laps. I just made one mistake here, a big one that probably cost me two seconds. Other than that I saw Hamal in second and I thought it would be a good time to break away. I probably wasn't the fastest rider today, for sure not in that first one, but I concentrated on my lines and just made minimal mistakes. I got the win, so really happy. I just saw Conrad coming the other side of the track and that was a marker and I tried to do some really good laps. Red plate, still early days, but always nice after three races and the points are close and it will be close with us three riders.

450 Moto Two

In the second 450 moto, Watson led from Hammal, Oliver, Durow, Bruce, Putnam, Meara, Mewse, Husband. Watson opened a 2.6 second lead over Hamal, with Oliver 5.5 back and Mewse in seventh was 18 seconds off the leader. Mewse into fourth place and 16 seconds off the pace of Watson.

Oliver into second place with a pass on Hammal, and a couple of seconds off Watson, who remained in front. Mewse 12 seconds off the leader and four seconds quicker than Watson in that last lap.

Mewse doing a Jeffrey Herlings as he seemingly much faster than the three guys in front and suddenly just 10 seconds off Watson. Top ten was Watson, Oliver, Hammal, Mewse, Purdon, Meara, Durow, Bruce, Grimshaw and Husband. Mewse all over Hammal for third place and makes the pass.

The gap with second minutes remaining was seven seconds. Watson with a one second lead over Oliver, but Mewse is coming for both these guys. Mewse all over the back wheel of Oliver for second place and both close to Watson.

Watson putting down some quick laps to keep a nice distance to Mewse and clearly, the Triumph rider is wanting to keep the red plate and get the overall victory. Watson wins it from Oliver and Mewse.
