Webb Wins Roczen Leads
Posted on January 24, 2021
Red Bull KTM Factory rider Cooper Webb has become the third winning in a row as the 2021 AMA supercross championship continues to bring us a very entertaining season. This time the top three was Webb, Ken Roczen and Adam Cianciarulo, and with his second place finish Ken Roczen really takes the red plate with 60 points and not surprisingly, there are round one winner Justin Barcia and Webb are just a point behind with 59 points.
Cooper took the holeshot from Roczen and Cianciarulo. Roczen moved into the lead after a mistake from Webb, and Cianciarulo also passed the KTM rider. Webb slowly pulled Roczen in on the last lap and then Roczen got slowed while trying to lap Dean Wilson and Webb took the lead and the win.
Cooper Webb: It was a close race the whole time. Ken rode well, didn’t make a lot of mistakes. The lappers there at the end were a bummer. I really have to give it to my team, they were amazing, I was on a different setting every time we were out there. I told them to take the wheel and just give me a setting and I’ll figure it out. Ken wasn’t making it easy, I pounced on that last lap. We’re in Texas. You have to go big or go home
Ken Roczen: Part of me wants to punch a hole in the wall. I have been practicing my patience, so I am going to keep it cool. It was a bummer last lap, he (Wilson) was in front of me and I was screaming and yelling and he said he didn’t hear me. It is very frustrating, but I am going to keep it cool.
In the 250 class it was Colt Nichols, Christian Craig and Jett Lawrence. Lawrence had crashed earlier in the night, and then had a horrible start in the main event, dropping the Aussie off the top three, before he made a last gap effort to pass Michael Mosiman for third place, and while making the pass caused the Husky rider to crash.
Jett Lawrence: I had a terrible start, I swear my mechanic could have ran out of the gate faster than I rode. I was riding a little tight and holding my breath early. I had to make that pass on Mosiman, he’s kinda annoying to get around. Man, it’s annoying enough to see one red plate. Now I’m going to see two!
Some great footage right HERE of the main event and interviews.
