It isn't just the AMA Motocross opener at Fox Raceway and the MXGP of France at Ernee this weekend, as the Australia’s best motocross racers will return to action on Sunday for the fourth round of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, presented by AMX Superstores, with the national competition heading to the iconic Loy Yang Park track in Traralgon for its first appearance in the series.

The circuit features a soft, loamy base, mild undulation, and a mixture of low and high speed sections, ensuring that riders and spectators alike will be treated to a racetrack that will provide exceptional entertainment.

Located 165 kilometres from the state's capital, Melbourne, and a short 10km to Traralgon’s town centre, plenty of options are on offer in the Latrobe City region, with a range of family-friendly attractions and wide-ranging hospitality and accommodation options ensuring what will be a memorable weekend.

Headlining the action will be the Kawasaki MX1 and Pirelli MX2 Championships, while the MAXXIS MX3 Championship and the KTM Group MX65 Futures will promise close, entertaining racing that will be high-paced throughout the day.

The battle of the ProMX titans continues atop the Kawasaki MX1 Class, with Monster Energy CDR Yamaha’s Jed Beaton (Vic) locked in a duel with last year’s champion, Kyle Webster (Vic). The two have once again asserted their early dominance on the field, and with the Boost Mobile Honda riders' three-race winning streak, he has closed what was a 22-point gap down to 13.

Occupying the third and fourth place positions are Nathan Crawford (QLD) and Luke Clout (NSW), who are separated by a lone point after three rounds of competition. It was anticipated to be a close match-up between these two entering the season and having switched places for the final step on the podium, the action is living up to the hype.

It’s been a standout privateer performance by both Levi Rogers (QLD) and Zachary Watson (QLD) this year, with the former holding down a very solid fifth place in the standings, while the latter is in eighth position. Between the duo are Wilson Todd (QLD) and Kirk Gibbs (SA), with each factory-backed rider looking to climb their way up the leaderboard in Traralgon.

The Raceline Husqvarna TDUB Racing pair of Todd Waters (QLD) and Regan Duffy (WA) occupy positions nine and 10 respectively, with each sand specialist out to capitalise on the familiar Traralgon surface to help kickstart their season.

There are plenty of intriguing stories to follow, with round four of the season shaping up to be a cracker.

Four points sit between the top two in the Pirelli MX2 Championship, with defending champion Brodie Connolly (Vic) and Ryder Kingsford (NSW) having produced stellar racing so far. Connolly has been the pace setter for the most part, while Kingsford’s tenacity is keeping him right in the fight, and setting up for what may be a great battle for the number one plate.

Third placed KTM Racing Team rider Noah Ferguson (QLD), NFAL Honda’s Alex Larwood (SA), and Byron Dennis (NSW) are close on points, with Ferguson holding a five-point advantage over the two who are tied on 94pts apiece. All three will be looking to chase down Polyflor Honda’s Connolly in Traralgon to inch their way closer to the title hunt.

Class newcomer Seth Burchell (NSW) is putting in a strong debut season in sixth place, meanwhile, a high-profile team switch from Raceline Husqvarna TDUB Racing to Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki for category veteran Rhys Budd sets up an interesting dynamic as he competes in his first national outing aboard Japanese machinery for 2025.

The action is aplenty across all areas of the Pirelli MX2 Championship, with the fight atop the field leading home what are a range of emerging outcomes as the season enters the fourth round.

The red versus blue theme continues in the MAXXIS MX3 division, with Honda Racing’s Kayd Kingsford (NSW) leading Monster Energy WBR Yamaha’s Ky Woods (NSW) at the front of the field. Kingsford would stretch out to a healthy 22-point advantage over Woods after Gillman, with fellow Honda rider Jet Alsop (QLD) entering the mix in P3.

The battles behind the top three have intensified during the three rounds of competition, with riders like Jack Deveson (QLD), Jackson Fuller (QLD), and Seth Shackleton (WA) knocking on the door of the overall podium runners, and wanting nothing more than to add their name to the title conversation.

All riders will be chasing Kingsford at the head of the pack, however, with the gate drop at Traralgon setting the stage for the future stars to emerge.

A large grid of fresh young talent will take to the Traralgon circuit this Sunday, as the KTM Group MX65 Futures takes flight at the eastern Victorian venue. This will be a great opportunity for the sport's upcoming stars to showcase their skill set on the biggest stage in the nation.

Riders from all over Australia are set to compete aboard 65cc machinery, gaining invaluable experience during a full professional day of racing, and providing the industry with a glimpse of what's to come in the future.

KTM Group MX65 Futures will be on track for the first time in 2025 at Traralgon

Gates will open at 8:00am on Sunday, May 25. Purchase your tickets here to see Australia’s best motocross riders battle it.
