WSX South Africa - Five Stories
As World Supercross heads to Cape Town for the season finale, the titles will be decided in the SX1 and SX2 classes. Here are the five storylines that will define the season.
1. Who will win the SX1 title?
Incredibly, after four rounds chocked full of talent, the top three in the 450cc SX1 class are separated by a single point. Jason Anderson, riding for Pipes Motorsport Group and Quad Lock Honda’s Joey Savatgy and Christian Craig will battle it out for the right to be crowned champion of the world.
2. Max Anstie expected to take the SX2 title
British rider Max Anstie has dominated the 250cc class this season but missed out on winning the main race last out in Sweden to mean that he was not able to clinch the title. He is fully expected to complete the job this weekend.
3. Who will win the team’s title?
The reigning world champions, Quad Lock Honda, currently lead the way thanks to the points haul achieved by SX1 front-runners Joey Savatgy and Christian Craig. The Australian team currently leads Pipes Motorsport Group and Rick Ware Racing.

4. Who will master the triple header?
With rounds three, four and five set in Australia’s Gold Coast, Stockholm in Sweden and Cape Town, South Africa, the busy end to the season will test teams and riders to the limit. Some have stayed in Sweden to relax while others have headed straight to the foot of Table Mountain. At this stage, maintaining focus with preparation and powering through is key.
5. How will the local rider stack up?
Cameron Durow is a nine-time South African national motocross champion. Having claimed national titles across every major category, Durow has moved to racing full-time in the AMA Pro Motocross Championship in the United States, going head-to-head with many of the sport’s elite athletes. He will now make his World Supercross debut.
