WSX - Who Will Be Champion?
While the opening two rounds of the World Supercross Championship have been more than enjoyable, with the 450 debut of Haiden Deegan, the KTM debut of Eli Tomac and some great racing from Ken Roczen in the SX1 class and Max Anstie in the SX2 class.
The big question though, is how serious can we take whoever is crowned World Supercross Champion, when there is so much confusion, when it comes to which riders are doing which rounds.
As we see it now, the wildcards are awarded points but not eligible for overall Championship win, so Tomac doing two rounds, Deegan doing two rounds and Justin Cooper doing three rounds, those guys do not have a chance of being crowned world champion.
Ken Roczen, who will only do three rounds, but isn’t down as a wildcard has a shot, as does second placed man, Jason Anderson, who is on 65pts, but then again, it isn’t known yet if he does the full series, as there hasn’t been an announcement for the Swedish GP or the South African GP.
There were rumours that Roczen will have a replacement and whatever his replacement scores will go to the German/American’s score tally, but that is just a rumour, so difficult to know if that is true or not.
It is a strange situation and one that is a little of a disappointment, for a series, that until now has been pretty exciting and interesting.
