Curtain up for the off-road racing bike of the future: Together with our partner Electric Motion, we have put an all-electric motocross motorcycle on its wheels, which will compete alongside other prototypes in selected races of the FIM Motocross World Championship in the MXEP category in 2026.

After our successful participation with the TY-E electric prototype in the EV class of the FIM Trial World Championship and the Formula E Championship, we are now ready to take the next step to gain valuable experience in the MXEP Electric Motocross Championship with the YE-01 Racing Concept.

To develop this all-electric off-road racing bike, we are working with Electric Motion (EM) – our strategic partner since November 2024, in which Yamaha Motor has invested. The partnership focuses on pooling competencies and capabilities to further advance EV-based technologies.

The YE-01 Racing concept is a live project and will be further developed with the aim of participating in the new MXEP electric motocross category, which will be part of the FIM Motocross World Championship calendar in the future and will present innovative electric bike prototypes at several European races.

It has been specially designed for motocross use and features a liquid-cooled electric drivetrain that is capable of providing a corresponding level of MXGP performance. To bring the electric power delivery as close as possible to the unique Yamaha riding experience, the engine is coupled with a hydraulic clutch. In addition, there is an ideal battery position for an optimized center of gravity – similar to the YZ450F engine with an inverted cylinder head. And for maximum control and stability, there's a class-leading top-of-the-line suspension, also from the new YZ450F.

In addition, as with our production motorcycles, further optimisation of the handling is possible through various engine power modes in conjunction with assistance systems such as traction control. This allows you to achieve a perfect set-up for all racing conditions – with the highest level of performance, traction and riding experience in every situation.

Of course, the YE-01 Racing Concept is continuously being developed: As part of the preparation for the start of the MXEP Championship, various tests are currently taking place with our motocross riders.
