Coenen Wins China
Red Bull KTM factory rider, Sasha Coenen has won the Chinese Grand Prix with 1-3 and Andrea Adamo with 4-1 second and red plate man, Simon Langenfelder was third overall with 3-2. Kay De Wolf finished with 2-4 scores for fourth overall, but the championship picture is still wide open for the final round in Australia in a weeks’ time.
The gap in the championship is now 16 points, with Langenfelder gaining four points this weekend. It might be tough now for the Dutchman to defend his championship. Simon Längenfelder 884 points, Kay de Wolf 868pts, Andrea Adamo 817pts, Sacha Coenen 756pts, Camden Mc Lellan 612pts.
Sasha Coenen: I didn't know I won, but f**k, when I crashed I used so much energy. Really happy with the win.
MX2 Moto Two
Langenfelder led Coenen in the second MX2 moto from Adamo, De Wolf, Farres, McLellan, Lata, Everts, Elzinga and Reisulis. Lap two Langenfelder held a 2.2 second lead over Coenen, with Adamo third, then de Wolf, Farres, McLellan, Elzinga, Lata, Everts and Valin.
Lap five and the lead by Langenfelder was 2.7 seconds over Coenen, with Adamo 4.6 back and de Wolf 17 seconds off the pace of the German. Coenen a crash and back to third place, handing Adamo second and four seconds ahead of de Wolf, who was fourth. Then came McLellan, Farres, Elzinga, Everts, Valin, and Reisulis.
Langenfelder now seven seconds ahead of Adamo, with Coenen 20 seconds back and de Wolf 22 seconds off the pace of the leader. Again, not the most exciting racing in MX2, but Langenfelder for sure putting his mark on the championship with a handful of points advantage over de Wolf in this moto.
Suddenly Adamo all over Langenfelder and de Wolf chasing Coenen and major points changes possible. Two laps to go and Adamo really pushing the German, but the red plate man holding onto the lead and de Wolf desperate to get past Coenen.
A sleepy MX2 moto was truly alive and well in the laps as two big battles closed out the moto. Adamo into the lead and that cuts the points lead of Langenfelder over de Wolf. Coenen drifted away from de Wolf and the championship points are still very close with one GP remaining. Coenen wins the GP, and Adamo the moto.
