Nestaan Husqvarna rider Lucas Coenen has won the MX2 qualification race and made a little points gain over red plate man, Kay De Wolf. De Wolf was involved in a first lap crash, that saw him way, way back and on the first lap he has worked his way to 20th and eventully moved all the way to second place a sensational ride and showing why he should be crowned World MX2 champion in a little over a months’ time, more than likely in China. Third in the moto was Red Bull KTM factory rider Liam Everts.

Lucas Coenen: When you get the flow on these type of tracks it is always fun. I stayed calm and passed Sasha and looking forward to tomorrow.

MX2 Qualification Race

Sasha Coenen led the MX2 qualifier, then Prugnieres, Adamo, Lucas Coenen, Werner, Haarup, Chambers, Everts, Oliver, and Valk. Everts moved past Chambers, Werner and into sixth place. The top ten quickly changed to Sasha Coenen, Lucas Coenen, Haarup, Adamo, Everts, Oliver, Werner, McLellan, and Valk 10th. De Wolf 20th after being involved in a first lap crash.

Lap one and it was Sasha Coenen, Lucas Coenen, Haarup, Everts, Prugnieres, Adamo, Oliver, Valk, McLellan, and Werner 10th. De Wolf was up to 13th place. Sasha and Lucas having a great battle at the front and De Wolf up to 12th place. Lucas Coenen into the lead as he passed his brother and both Belgian brothers looking very fast.

Lap four and the lead by Lucas over his brother was 6.5 seconds and the taller twin is really putting on a show in front of the De Wolf fans. Haarup was making ground on Sasha Coenen and Everts was also close to those two, but then Haarup made a mistake and dropped to fifth, handing Adamo fourth, then came Prugnieres, McLellan, de Wolf, Valk, Oliver, Elzinga 10th.

McLellan passed Prugnieres and De Wolf was all over the young Frenchman and actually passed on lap five, to move into seventh spot. Langenfelder way back in 16th place and Chambers 12th. Liam Everts moved into second place after passing Sasha Coenen.

Lap seven the lead by Lucas Coenen over Everts was 17 seconds, then came Sasha Coenen, Adamo, Haarup, de Wolf, McLellan, Elzinga, Prugnieres and Valk 10th. Prugnieres dropped to 10th allowing Valk into ninth and Langenfelder was up to 15th place.

Adamo and Haarup moved past Sasha Coenen and De Wolf is also looking for a way past. De Wolf into fifth as he passed Coenen and then into fourth as he passed Haarup. Great ride by De Wolf to make sure he didn’t lose too many points on Lucas Coenen in the championship.

De Wolf into third place with a pass on Adamo and really flying. He is five seconds off Everts with three laps remaining. The top ten was Lucas Coenen, Everts, De Wolf, Adamo, Haarup, McLellan, Sasha Coenen, Elzinga, Valk and Prugnieres in 10th. De Wolf passed Everts late and Lucas Coenen wins from De wolf and Everts.
