Coenen Wins Lommel - Saturday
Red Bull KTM factory rider, Lucas Coenen has won the MXGP qualification race, with a solid performance, starting in eighth and making his way to the front by mid moto. The Belgian teenager finished ahead of Romain Febvre, who had a similar road to the front with Calvin Vlaanderen in third place.
Lucas Coenen: I was a bit sick yesterday, so I didnt sleep a lot and felt sick again today. I did a good job. I was keeping a little bit and then pushed at the last. The track is already rough.
MXGP Qualifier
Gifting led the MXGP qualifier from Vlaanderen, Geerts, Coldenhoff, Van Doninck, Bogers, Herlings, Coenen, Bonacorsi, Sterry and Febvre. Herlings back to 11th and Coenen up to sixth and Febvre into seventh.
Amazingly, three Yamaha machines in front and four if you want to count Fantic mounted Coldenhoff in fourth. Herlings back to ninth, Coenen fifth and Febvre seventh. Coenen then into fourth place and charging to the front and going after the two Yamaha riders, Gifting and Vlaanderen.
Coldenhoff going backwards as Febvre moved past him and into fifth. Top tne on lap three was Gifting, Vlaanderen, Coenen, Geerts, Febvre, Coldenhoff, Van Doninck, Bogers, Bonacorsi and Herlings.
Coenen all over the back wheel of Vlaanderen, with Febvre pushing to get past Geerts. Coenen into second place and on lap five the top ten was Gifting, Coenen, Vlaanderen, Geerts, Febvre, Coldenhoff, Van Doninck, Bogers, Bonacorsi, and Herlings, still stuck in 10th place.
Vlaanderen back past Coenen as Febvre moved into fourth place with a pass on Geerts. Coenen a little while as he tries to find his way past Vlaanderen. Herlings 23 seconds off the lead and one second behind Bogers in ninth place.
Coenen takes the lead with passes on both Vlaanderen and Gifting and Herlings past Bogers for ninth spot. Vlaanderen into second place. On lap eight the top ten was Coenen, Vlaanderen, Febvre, Gifting, Coldenhoff, Geerts, Van Doninck, Bonacorsi, Herlings, and Renaux.
Febvre moved into second and was six seconds behind Coenen, with Vlaanderen five seconds ahead of fourth placed man, Gifting. Coenen wins it from Febvre and Vlaanderen.
