Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider, Kay De Wolf has won the MXGP of Finland in the MX2 class with a perfect 1-1 performance. What was more important, the defending World MX2 champion has also closed the gap somewhat to series leader, Simon Langenfelder, who struggled in Finland.

Kay De Wolf: This was the goal, we sat down after Matterley and made a plan and we wanted 60 points from this round, so it happened. I skipped my holiday and just worked. My mechanic drove a lot of hours to get me to practice and this is an emotional one after all the work we put in. Thanks to my girlfriend and the team. I managed my riding this weekend and we did what we had to do, going 1-1-1. I am already looking forward to Loket.

Andrea Adamo: It was a good, solid weekend and what we needed. It is hard to beat Kay in the sand, so a good result with 2-3 and staying close.

Sasha Coenen: I am really happy to have a podium this weekend, because I was really sick all week and this weekend.

Second overall was Red Bull KTM factory rider, Andrea Adamo with 2-3 and third another KTM factory rider, Sasha Coenen with 4-2. Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 613 points, Andrea Adamo 570pts, Kay de Wolf 565pts, Sacha Coenen 482pts and Liam Everts 464pts.

MX2 Moto Two

Coenen holeshot the second MX2 moto from Benistant, Farres, de Wolf, Reisulis, Adamo, Langenfelder, McLellan, Valin and Mikula. De Wolf moved past Farres to move into third place and McLellan passed Langenfelder.

Lap two it was a 2.3 second lead by Coenen over Benistant, with de Wolf 4.2 back in third, then Farres, Adamo, Reisulis, McLellan, Langenfelder, Valin, Elzinga in 10th. De Wolf the best lap of the race so far and the quickest of the two MX2 motos, as he moved closer to Benistant and Coenen.

Langenfelder into seventh spot with a pass on McLellan, and Valin not that far back from those two. Valk in 14th and Lata 12th. Langenfelder into fifth place with a pass on Farres and de Wolf moved past Benistant, so a lot of movement in the MX2 race two. Top ten on lap five was Coenen, de Wolf, Benistant, Adamo, Langenfelder, Farres, Reisulis, McLellan, Valin and Elzinga.

Lap nine and de Wolf trying to close the gap to Coenen, who was looking safe in front, with Benistant now dropping off the pace of those two. Adamo and Langenfelder were riding lonely races in fourth and fifth.

De Wolf into the lead on lap 11 and Benistant getting serious pressure from Adamo for third position. Langenfelder miles back in fifth place. Then came McLellan, Reisulis, Valin, Elzinga and Walvoort. De Wolf wins the moto and the GP.
