  • Race Report

Nestaan Husqvarna rider Kay De Wolf has scored his first Grand Prix since round three in Sardinia back in early April, and in doing so, also extended his MX2 championship points lead. The talented Dutchman scored 1-1 results and stopped a seven GP run by Belgian riders taking victory.

Riders from the Benelux (Netherlands and Belgium) have won every MX2 GP this year. Second overall was Andrea Adamo with 2-3 and third Lucas Coenen with 7-2.

Kay De Wolf: I was feeling good, but I don’t know what the track guys did in between the races, because we had a good race-track and they over watered it. Really happy to get this win and can’t wait for next week already. It was too different races and a difficult second one with the water, but I made some good passes and happy with what we did with the team between motos.

Andrea Adamo: It was a good weekend. Happy to be on the podium. We had two different races as Kay said and we had a mud race without rain, just crazy. Start was important, and I am happy with my speed and riding and lets go for the second one.

Lucas Coenen: I mean, not the best weekend, I am still learning the track and you need to attack it and not ride smooth and I learnt the track now and I look forward to next week. I almost crashed when Kay passed me.

World championship points are now Kay de Wolf 532, Lucas Coenen 467, Simon Laengenfelder 463, Liam Everts 432, Andrea Adamo 417.

MX2 Moto Two

Sasha Coenen led brother Lucas into the opening lap, followed by de Wolf, Zanchi, Haarup, Langenfelder, Adamo, Everts, Karssemakers, Walvoort in 10th. De Wolf passed Lucas Coenen for second and Everts crashed and in 15th position. Lucas Coenen repassed de Wolf for second.

Lap one and it was Sasha, Lucas, de Wolf, Zanchi, Haarup, Langenfelder, Adamo, Karssemakers, Wavoort and McLellan in 10th. Everts up to 13th place, Chambers 15th and Oliver 20th. Elzinga a mistake and back in 17th. Adamo moved past Langenfelder and Everts up to 12th place. Langenfelder repassed Adamo for sixth position.

On lap two the lead by Sasha Coenen was six seconds, with de Wolf back in second, then Lucas Coenen, Zanchi, Haarup, Langenfelder, Adamo, Karssemakers, Walvoort and McLellan in 10th. Three laps in and Sasha Coenen really looking aggressive as he makes the gap to de Wolf 7.9 seconds.

Lap four and the lead by Coenen was 5.9 seconds, but not a lot happening behind. Everts up to ninth place, Haarup passed Zanchi for fourth and many riders clearly taking it a little easy, due to the warm conditions.

De Wolf slowly closing up on Sasha Coenen, with the gap on lap eight being 1.4 seconds. Adamo passed Langenfelder and on lap nine the top ten was de Wolf (who had taken the lead), Sasha and Lucas Coenen, Haarup, Adamo, Langenfelder, Zanchi, Everts, McLellan and Walvoort in 10th. Lucas Coenen passed his brother to move into second and was closing up on also making the podium, but he needed to pass de Wolf to get third overall.

On lap 12 it was De Wolf with a 2.6 second lead over Lucas Coenen, with Sasha third, then Haarup, Adamo, Langenfelder, Everts, Zanchi, McLellan and Walvoort. Action in the final motos as Haarup and Adamo both pass Sasha Coenen and Lucas Coenen all over de Wolf for the lead.

Adamo into third, but Haarup gets it back and bars being bangs between these two and Coenen all over de Wolf to gain third place on the podium. Adamo eventually passed Haarup and made it stick and Haarup tipped over and dropped to fifth place and off the podium. De Wolf wins from Lucas Coenen and Adamo and the podium was De Wolf, Adamo and Lucas Coenen.
