De Wolf Wins Moto One
Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider, Kay De Wolf has won the opening MX2 moto of the MXGP of Finland. The Dutchman, seemingly over some of his minor injuries looked very strong from the gate drop around the sandy circuit. Second in the moto was Red Bull KTM factory rider Andrea Adamo and third Thibault Benistant of the Monster Energy Yamaha team.
Kay De Wolf: I definately needed these points, but a consistent moto, took the lead and did my own thing. Saved some energy for the second moto, so ready do go for the second one.
Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 597 points, Andrea Adamo 550pts, Kay de Wolf 540pts, Liam Everts 464pts and Sacha Coenen 460pts.
MX2 Moto One
Adamo led early with Langenfelder seconds, but he made a mistake and dropped well back, then came Mikula, Lata, Walvoort, de Wolf, Elzinga, Reisulis, McLellan and Langenfelder. De Wolf into the lead and Langenfelder down in 10th place and losing valuable points at this point.
On lap three it was de Wolf, Adfamo, Benistant, McLellan, Reisulis, Farres, Coenen, Prugnieres, Elzinga and Langenfelder 10th. On lap five, the lead by de Wolf over Adamo was 3.1 seconds, with Benistant 8.6 seconds behind in third, then came McLellan, Coenen, Farres, Reisulis, Langenfelder into eight, Elzinga and Prugnieres in 10th. Lata 11th, Valin 12th and Valk 13th.
Lap seven and de Wolf in command as the lead went to 5.3 seconds, with Adamo three seconds ahead of Benistant, then McLellan, Coenen, Farres, Langenfelder, Reisulis, Elzinga and Prugnieres.
De Wolf continued to extend his lead as it was seven seconds on lap 11 but not changes in positions in the top order of the top ten, but Valin into ninth place with passes on Elzinga and Prugenieres. Langenfelder a mistake and lost ground and McLellan also a crash and he dropped back on the guys in front.
Adamo making ground on the leader de Wolf, with the gap now just 3.3 seconds and on lap 13 the top ten was De Wolf, Adamo, Benistant, McLellan, Coenen, Langenfelder, Farres, Valin, Reiuslis and Elzinga 10th. De Wolf wins from Adamo and Benistant.
