De Wolf Wins Saturday in Finland
Nestaan Husqvarna factory rider and defending MX2 champion, Kay De Wolf has won the Saturday qualifier in Finland. The Dutchman, who started well moved into the lead when his team-mate and early leader, Liam Everts crashed hard and retired from the moto. Second in the moto was Redbull KTM factory rider, Sasha Coenen, and third Guillem Farres of the Triumph factory team.
Kay De Wolf: Felt really good. I hope Liam is okay. He was trapped underneath the bike and I wasn't sure what you should do, it was last year in China he was also trapped under the bike like that. In the end, you have to keep racing, and it was good qualifying race, I would have been happy with second behind him. Looking forward to tomorrow.
MX2 Qualifier
Everts led the MX2 qualifier from Coenen (who had taken the holeshot), Farres, de Wolf, Benistant, Lata, Valin, Langenfelder, Adamo, and Walvoort 10th. Everts looking very comfortable as he pulled a gap of 2.4 seconds over Coenen, with Farres 2.9 further back in third. De Wolf four seconds off his team-mate.
On lap three the lead by Everts was six seconds over Coenen, and seven over Farres and De Wolf, who had caught the Spaniard. De Wolf passed Farres and after Farres came Benistant, Valin, Langenfelder, Adamo, Lata and Prugnieres. De Wolf suddenly all over Coenen for second place and clearly he is racing 100% now after a series of injuries.
