Herlings Wins Germany
Red Bull KTM factory rider, Jeffrey Herlings has won the MXGP of Germany with a stunning 2-1 performance to beat home young sensation Lucas Coenen and red plate man, Romain Febvre. Herlings just a stunning comeback to pick up his 108th Grand Prix victory.
Coenen finished second with 1-2 and third was Romain Febvre with 4-3. Coenen made up more points on the Frenchman in the championship chase. Championship points are now Romain Febvre 487 points, Lucas Coenen 451pts, Maxime Renaux 326pts, Glenn Coldenhoff 322pts, Tim Gajser 305pts. So a 36 point lead for Febvre as Coenen keeps closing the gap.
Jeffrey Herlings: It has been since last year that I got a win, so its been a while. Coming back from an ACL was difficult, but I got the win. Everyone saying this old man should retire, but I knew I could do this. I want to thank the KTM team for this. You know, I have come a long way since when I came back. The second moto was difficult to save vision and I managed to pass Romain and Lucas to get the win.
Lucas Coenen: I guess I am the second place guy, three in a row. Good racing with Jeffrey and I was trying to keep it on two wheels and the lapped riders were difficult. Jeffrey was riding good and he found some good lines and I finished with the same points as him.
Romain Febvre: A good result on the podium and consistent is the key and if I have a bad weekend and finish on the podium. The second moto a lapped rider was difficult. Congrats to Jeffrey on winning the Grand Prix and we will work harder for Latvia.
