Herlings Wins Saturday - Turkey
HRC factory rider, Jeffrey Herlings has won the MXGP qualification race and is now a little closer to his sixth world title. He just needs to beat Febvre in moto one tomorrow and he will be crowned world champion of 2026.
Jeffrey Herlings: I had an okay start, not great, but turned in fourth and passes Febvre in the first turn, then Gajser and Tom had the lead and I didn't want to do a dirty move, but passed him hard and didn't touch him. Tomorrow is an important race. Another 10 points and nice to sit on pole for tomorrow.
MXGP Qualification Race
Vialle with the lead in the MXGP qualifier, from Gajser, Herlings, Febvre, Adamo, Fernandez, Seewer, Talviku, Vlaanderen, and Pancar. Herlings into second place with a pass on Gajser. Vialle getting away from Herlings, who continued to have Gajser on his rear end.
Lap three the lead by Vialle was 1.3 over Herlings, with Gajser now 2.5 back, then Febvre, Fernandez, Adamo, Seewer, Vlaanderen, Pancar and Horgmo. Herlings suddenly all over Vialle for the lead.
Lap seven the lead by Vialle was one seconds, with Gajser also close to Herlings and Febvre in fourth, but five seconds off the leader. Gajser putting some pressure on Herlings, who was nearly two seconds off the pace of Vialle.
Herlings all over Vialle and suddenly looking for the moto win and add more points to his championship charge. Fernandez a crash and dropping down the field and Febvre catching Gajser for third place. Herlings into the lead and he wins the race.
