Herlings Wins Turkey - 111th Victory
MXGP legend, Jeffrey Herlings has won back-to-back GPs with his 2-1 performance enough to hand him the MXGP of Turkey, with third to Romain Febvre with 3-2 and Lucas Coenen second overall with 1-3. No points gain for Febvre and the points lead now 26 points with two rounds remaining.
It was Herlings 111th Grand Prix victory in his amazing career. It was also Herlings fifth victory at the Turkish venue. The greatest Grand Prix winner of all time and showing he is a long way from relaxing at the front of the MXGP pack.
Jeffrey Herlings: Super pleased with this win and this is a tough track for Dutchies, Happy with the 2-2-1. This is a difficult one and we kept pushing until the end and getting the job done. It was really good, better than I expected. We had to change something with the bike because we are high here. Super please with GP win number 111. Lets try and finish this year strong.
Lucas Coenen: I mean, not much to say. I came from the back and they were already gone and at one point I was sleeping there. I could have pushed into him (Febvre) at the end but didn't do it. Looking forward to the next races.
Romain Febvre: Second moto I was better, I think I got the holeshot, but I couldn't manage that in the first moto. We made a change late and it worked in the second moto. I was leading and saw Jeffrey behind and thought I had the GP, but he passed me and then Lucas tried really hard to pass me. We didn't lose many points here.
Championship points now Romain Febvre 885 points, Lucas Coenen 859pts, Glenn Coldenhoff 638pts, Ruben Fernandez 557pts, Calvin Vlaanderen 528pts. Herlings now sixth with 522pts.
MXGP Moto Two
Gifting with a big start, but Febvre took the lead, with Coenen third and Herlings fourth. Herlings quickly into second though and Gajser in fourth. Coenen dropped back and a frantic opening to the start of the second MXGP moto.
Coenen back in fifth and now struggling to gain points on Febvre for the championship. Gajser all over Herlings and Febvre getting away a little. Coenen into fourth and now chasing Gajser and Herlings and this time, Febvre has the advantage of having the two five time World champions between himself and Coenen.

Lap two it was Febvre with 1.7 over Herlings, but Coenen passed Gajser and was then going after Herlings. No doubt, his final goal to catch and pass Febvre. Top ten was Febvre, Herlings, Coenen, Gajser, Gifting, Fernandez, Renaux, Vlaanderen, Jonass and Van Doninck.
Herlings remained close to Febvre, with Coenen losing a little ground in the Belgian and Gajser again maybe struggling with arm pump as he dropps off the pace of the front three. Herlings closing a little on the leader, and Coenen trying to stick with them, but not gaining and Gajser losing even more time on the Belgian.
Herlings now all over Febvre for the lead and that will without question give Coenen motivation to get to the front. Gajser making a little charge as he closed up on Coenen and maybe we get a four way battle for the lead. Gifting eight seconds back in fifth place and again showing he is more than capable of getting more factory support in 2026.
Herlings all over Febvre for the lead and Coenen also closing on those two. Herlings quicker than the Frenchman and you just know he would take the lead and he did on lap nine. Coenen will now chase after the red plate man. Coenen now all over Febvre and he can gain a huge points advantage with a pass on Febvre.
The 10 minutes go to time and this is when Herlings usually makes an advantage, but can he do that against a young lion like Coenen, who will remember the Arnhem lose. Coenen his quickest lap of the moto, but Coenen still lost some time on the front two. Febvre all over Herlings again as he goes for a charge himself.
Typically, this circuit not allowing big changes in the gaps as it’s a tough circuit to make up time, while Coenen two laps slower than the two front men. Top ten on lap 13 was Herlings, Febvre, Coenen, Gajser, Fernandez, Renaux, Vlaanderen, Jonass, Coldenhoff, and Bonacorsi.
Brilliant late race charge by Coenen, who was all over Febvre, but Herlings wins it from Febvre and Coenen.
