Kevin Horgmo - MXGP of Spain
After making his best results in the MXGP class in Portugal a week earlier, scoring 10-6 and seventh overall, Honda Motoblouz SR rider Kevin Horgmo, suffered poor results in Lugo, Spain, but the likeable rider still keeps smiling and giving his fans and the Motocross public an inside look into his racing.
"Toughest and longest two motos I’ve had in a while," Horgmo said of Portugal. "Solid day in MXGP Portugal round five with 10-6 for 7th overall. Personal best race result and overall in the MXGP class, big thanks to the team for the hard work in the mud, and specially 100% for perfect goggles!"
What followed was DNF-14 results in Lugo, Spain, but the Honda rider knows that good things will happen with hard work and his determination to be a regular top ten guy in MXGP is very high.
"I don't even want to update about it," Horgmo said of his Saturday in Lugo. "It was strange, because my riding was solid, I felt good on the track. I had a average start, but in the pack I didn't ride like myself and I struggled a lot."
The Sunday wasn't much better, but he did improve and he will continue to fight for top ten finishes in the remaining rounds, starting with France this coming weekend.
"Going into Sunday I felt better, but a bad start in moto one and I had technical issues and didn't finish and then from the warm-up to race two the track changed a lot. Second moto I started pretty good in 10th or 11th and then we had the red flag and I was 18th in the restart. I struggled with my intensity and I was trying to figure out the track and I got better, but finished 14th and the MXGP class is so stacked, but with a bad start, you need to be Herlings or Prado to advance up the field. I need to recharge, regroup. I need to be stronger in the time laps. Until this year I didn't score in the qualification race, so that is a goal."
Horgmo is having his rookie season in the premier class of the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2024. Riding for the Ship To Cycle Honda Motoblouz SR team. Horgmo, a former European vice champion and fourth-place finisher in the MX2 World Championship, ended the 2023 season on a high note with a race win in Turkey.
