Kevin Horgmo - Portugal
Kevin Horgmo as always gave a great inside look at this GP weekend. If only more riders put the effort in on their weekends, like Horgmo does.
This weekend's World MXGP round in Águeda, Portugal was a rollercoaster with good riding, difficult conditions and bad luck that characterized the results. I like this course a lot and have had strong results here in the past - and this year too it started well.

Saturday: Dry conditions on Saturday, and I had a very good feeling. I got 3rd in training and 4th in time qualifying one of my best qualifying results so far this year. In the heat of agony I started out fine and rode up to 5th place, where I stayed pretty much the whole heat, but with 2 laps to go, crashed in one turn trying to catch up 4th place. The accident wasn't major, but I got stuck under the bike and no officials came to help. Lost over a minute and finally finished 16th. A huge chance was missed, and with poor gravel space, Sunday became extra challenging.
Sunday - extreme mud and demanding conditions: A torrential rain delayed Sunday's races and the track was almost impassable. But I felt strong on the warm-up and went to the start with good courage.
Heat 1: I started around 12th or 13th place rode up to 10th, but crashed into some mud and fell back. After that I actually drove even better - climbed up to 7th place and had 5th place in sight towards the end. The riding was good despite the conditions, and I was happy with the effort.
Heat 2: Slightly worse start and it took time to find flow. I was about 15 , but worked my way up to 10th spot. With three laps left the rider in front of me almost crashed and I had to turn away. I got off the course, into a mud hole, and got stuck. I never got away - and it ended in a DNF. Incredibly sad, because it wasn't even my fault.
Overall: In total, we were 14th place overall, and I still keep 8th place in the World championship points. It was a weekend characterized by frustration, but also good driving. Didn't get in this time, but I'm getting up and looking forward to round 8 in Lugo, Spain next weekend.
Thanks to everyone who supports, helps and cheers - we never give up!
