Langenfelder Takes France
Red Bull KTM factory rider, Simon Langenfelder has gone 1-1 for victory at the MXGP of France at Ernee today. The German had a delightful day, not only winning the GP, but also heading to his home Grand Prix next weekend in Germany, with the red plate.
Second overall was Andrea Adamo with 2-2 scores and he also passed defending champion Kay De Wolf in the championship points. Third overall Sasha Coenen with 6-4 scores.
Simon Langenfelder: It went really good, so happy. I was sick coming into this week and took some extra power and went 1-1 and I think I have the championship lead. I would say the first one was amazing and the second one I really had to push, because Andrea was pushing from the back. It was difficult finding lines on this slick soil.
Andrea Adamo: It was a solid weekend, 1-2-2 and we need that. I wanted to win and gave everything. I think I was faster, but didn't find a way to pass. We still have 11 races to go, so the fight is on.
Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 424 points, Andrea Adamo 413pts, Kay de Wolf 399pts, Liam Everts 343pts, Thibault Benistant 308pts. The lead by Langenfelder now 11 points over Adamo and 25 over de Wolf.
MX2 Moto Two
De Wolf again crashed in the start of the second MX2 moto as Langenfelder led from Adamo again, with Benistant third, then Reisulis, Everts, Farres, Valin, Gwerder and Lata. De Wolf in 23rd. Lap one the lead by Langenfelder was 2.2 over Adamo, with Benistant three seconds off the pace of the German.
Three laps in the lead by Langenfelder was 3.8 seconds, with Adamo just ahead of Benistant. De Wolf into 17th place. Adamo slowly catching Langenfelder, with Benistant 5.3 behind the leader. Then came Coenen, Everts, Farres, Gwerder, Valin, Oliver, Valk in 10th.
Lap six and it was Langenfelder with just 1.3 over Adamo, but the Italian suddenly closed that gap right up and was all over the German racer. Benistant was 6.2 seconds back in third. Adamo riding better than ever as he chases yet another GP victory.
Lap 22 and it remained the same with Langenfelder, Adamo, Benistant, Coenen, Everts, Farres, Oliver, Valin, Valk and Gwerder. De Wolf in 15th place and a shocking GP for the defending World MX2 champion.
Lap 14 and Adamo all over Langenfelder for the moto and GP victory. Benistant 15 seconds back and de Wolf back in 13th position and closing on Reisulis. Brilliant GP battle between the two KTM men, who are also fighting for the ownership of the red plate, with de Wolf having all sorts of problems today. Langenfelder wins it from Adamo and Benistant.
