Paris SX - 40 Years
Born near Bercy in March 1984, the Paris Supercross will blow out its 40 candles on November 16 and 17 in the superb ultra-modern enclosure of the Paris la Défense Arena. And 40 years later, the magic still happens!
Forty years old, what a beautiful age! No one really knew, when the first Paris Supercross kicked off on March 14, 1984, how the event would go through the years. Today the answer is clear, since the 2024 edition is already 'sold out' for Saturday evening, so that there are only places left for Sunday 17 afternoon.
The recipe for this success seems simple, but it is not so simple since Paris remains the only city in the world, outside the United States, to continue to organize a very high level event every year with the participation of stars of this discipline that quickly conquered America.
Paris has built its reputation over the years with an XXL poster and the presence of the biggest stars of US Supercross. From David Bailey's winner in March 1984 to last year's unbeatable Jett Lawrence, Ricky Johnson, Jeff Stanton, Jean Michel Bayle, Jeremy McGrath and James Stewart, Paris has always managed to attract the biggest SX stars and the magic remains!
Dominator of the 2024 US season, Jett Lawrence comes to put his 'King of Paris' title on the line, accompanied by his brother Hunter with whom he made the Australian colors triumph at the last Motocross des Nations.
These two virtuosos will cross the Atlantic accompanied by some other top US SX riders such as Cooper Webb, Malcolm Stewart, Dylan Ferrandis, Tom Vialle or Jo Shimoda. In Paris they will meet the French elite of the discipline: Cédric Soubeyras, Gregory Aranda, Jordi Tixier, Thomas Ramette, Maxime Desprey and the entire SX Tour peloton.
If the schedules differ on Saturday (doors open at 2:00 pm, start of the show at 7:00 pm, end of the show at 11:00 pm) and Sunday (doors open at 10:30 am, start of the show at 2:00 pm, end of the show at 6:00 pm), the program of each evening is identical with no less than seven races, two 'Super Pole' sessions where the drivers will be alone on track to set a time, and many animations.
Pit bike races and handlebar races will be part of the event, but as always it is the two jumping competitions (FMX sessions) that will raise the atmosphere in the largest concert hall, the Paris la Défense Arena, which is hosting the event for the seventh consecutive year.
