Prado Wins Hunter Leads
In one of the strangest races in AMA motocross history, the Lawrence brothers, both having horrible first laps fought for mid-raced finishes, while Jorge Prado, who got lucky when Haiden Deegan crashed and took Hunter Lawrence down with him, won the moto, his first in his AMA career.
It was mayhem from the first lap, when Deegan sent the American fans into celebration, but as he has done so many times this year, he crashed while holding the lead over Hunter Lawrence, then Hunter crashed into his fallen bike and got up in last place.
In the meantime, Jett Lawrence was back in 25th place and struggling big time. With both Lawrences mid pack, Hunter caught and passed Jett, who was clearly having issues with his ankle, and riding maybe the worst he has ridden in his 450 career.
Once past his little brother, Hunter moved into the top ten and now has a four point lead over Jett going into the second moto. A nice win for Prado, a nice third place for new Team USA rider, Cooper Webb and one crazy race ended.
Earlier in the day, Cole Davies did enough to finish top three in the opening 250 moto to become the AMA 250 motocross champion of 2026. Team USA rider, Chance Hymas won the moto and like Webb in the 450 class, shows this Team USA team is while not the best they have, pretty close to it.
