Defending champion and still the favourite to win the title this year, Jett Lawrence goes into this coming weekends AMA Nationals at the famous sand track of Southwick with four victories in the sand, three in the 450 class and one in the 250 class. Unfortunately, he also arrives at a circuit, where his current injury won't allow him to race like he has in the past.

The big winner in Southwick, and nearly every other circuit in America is Ricky Carmichael, who won there on 10 occasions, including an undefeated run in the premier class from 2000 to 2007. He also won twice in the 125cc class, in 1999 and 1997.

American legend, Eli Tomac has four wins at Southwick, but won't compete this weekend. Another team USA hero, Jeff Stanton won four in a row, between 1989 and 1992 and Kent Howerton also won four times there, three in the 250cc class and once on the 500cc machine. Ryan Dungey, Doug Henry won three times each, as did Broc Glover, two in the 125cc class and one in the 500cc class.

Southwick is also a favourite for former GP riders, with Marvin Musquin, Tyla Rattray, Grant Langston, Zach Osborne, J. M. Bayle, Dylan Ferrandis, Brett Metcalfe, Hunter Lawrence, Tom Vialle and Pierre Karsmakers all taking wins at Southwick. Can the Coenen brothers make Southwick their own and join this list of euros who have done well there?
