Max Anstie again dominated the 250cc SX2 class with another clean sweep while Coty Schock took second place on the night. Here our guest contributor, journalist Lewis Phillips, gives us his Power Rankings from BC Place. WSX media guy, Lewis Phillips gave his power ranking for the WSX round and of course, his perfect mate, Mr Anstie gets a 10.

1. Max Anstie (10/10)

I was a bit hesitant to hand Anstie full marks for an untidy Vancouver adventure, but he is happier with this than Argentina. It’s hard to argue against that.

2. Coty Schock (10/10)

A significant improvement on round one for Schock – he has emerged as the only obstacle in Anstie’s path to the championship. Schock should win soon.

3. Kyle Peters (9/10)

Peters has had so much time away from the racetrack, but there are already flashes there. He was spicy at points in Vancouver! It must come together now.

4. Enzo Lopes (9/10)

Similar to his teammate, Lopes took positive steps forward at the second stop. More consistent starts would help his cause, sure, but this is promising.

5. Michael Hicks (8/10)

Using his teammate as a reference point, Hicks has been positive for Stark. It’s peculiar that he is so much better than his teammate Kobusch.

6. Cullin Park (8/10)

Starts let Park down – that could be a theme – and he missed the podium for the second week in a row. There is no doubt that he should collect a trophy each week.

7. Cole Thompson (7/10)

Thompson seemed more intent on winning a scuffle with Park than pleasing his home crowd but still carded a solid result. This is the worst he should finish in SX2.

8. Shane McElrath (6/10)

Persistent mechanical issues – specifically with the engine – caused McElrath to look like a shadow of his former self in Vancouver. An awful day and, sadly, the chances of another title are bleak.

9. Robbie Wageman (6/10)

Wageman was not too impressive in Vancouver, but he took a significant step from where he finished in Buenos Aires. SX2 is sinking the PMG ship in the team classification.

10. Maxime Desprey (5/10)

Another anonymous day for Desprey, but consistency has put him in a respectable ninth in the SX2 championship standings. That’s about where he should be.

11. Wilson Todd (5/10)

Todd is better than this but, considering he was drafted in as a late substitute for Anthony Bourdon, he represented the Quad Lock Honda team well. A practice crash hurt his results.

12. Lance Kobusch (4/10)

Kobusch is so insanely talented, so is the Stark holding him back or does he need to execute better? That question leads to a middle-of-the-road score.

13. Kyle Chisholm (4/10)

Chisholm’s one of nine riders who scored in each race: a testament to his ability to execute. However, a late fall left him with an ankle issue and his future is uncertain…

14. Noah Viney (2/10)

It’s clear that Viney can start well. Aside from that, he’s struggling to compete right now and needs to find more pace quite quickly.
