After a brief weekend off, the Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP and MX2 teams are straight back into action as they arrive at the iconic Foxhills motocross track in Swindon, England, to begin another gruelling run of three Grand Prix rounds in a row.

The venue, which holds a special place in Yamaha’s motocross history, hosts the MXGP of Great Britain – Round 12 of the FIM Motocross World Championship – for the first time since 2000.

Foxhills made its FIM Motocross World Championship debut in 1992, and from the very first race it has been a happy hunting ground for Yamaha. American legend Bob Moore won that inaugural event on a YZ250, then returned in 1993 to triumph again, this time on a YZ125. Yamaha’s winning streak continued with Paul Malin’s emotional home Grand Prix win in 1994, followed by back to back 125cc wins from Alessio Chiodi (1997, 1998) and Claudio Federicci’s victory in 1999.

Hoping to add to Yamaha’s success, five time world champion Tim Gajser is still searching for his first Grand Prix victory in blue. Teammate Maxime Renaux shares that same hunger to win. Both riders have shown strong pace aboard their Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP YZ450FMs in recent rounds and are looking forward to racing a track that is new on the calendar for all current MXGP and MX2 riders.

In MX2, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2’s rookie sensation Janis Reisulis arrives with sky high confidence after back to back podium finishes. The 18 year old Latvian continues to impress with his speed and composure. Meanwhile, his older brother Karlis Reisulis is also in high spirits after clinching the Dutch Masters MX2 title – a milestone that adds extra energy to the Dutch based team.

The MXGP of Great Britain will also host the third round of the FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship, where reigning world champion Lotte van Drunen aims to bounce back after a challenging start to her title defence. The Dutch star will look to regain momentum at the historic Foxhills venue.

Meanwhile, round eight of the EMX125 Championship will see MJC Yamaha’s podium contenders Sleny Goyer and Levi Townley take to the track, both eager to impress in front of the British crowd and continue their push for podium silverware.

“I haven’t done anything special over the past week. I was just at home, training hard as usual, and we did some testing as well. I’m looking forward to riding a new track. I’ve seen some videos and images of it, and it looks quite nice – fun to ride. I’m a little disappointed that we aren’t going to Matterley Basin this year, as it’s one of my all-time favourite tracks, but it is what it is. Foxhills looks amazing too, and hopefully we’ll have some good races there. The goal is the same as always. I know what I’m capable of. I just want to have good starts and to feel good right from the first lap on track. I know that when I feel good on the bike, I’m really fast. Obviously, I want to have a good race and be at the front, and that’s what I’ll try to do.”

“My health is doing a bit better. I’m slowly getting there, but I’m not training at all now to let my body recover. We tried to make as quick a win as possible because we don’t have much time off in our schedule – just one weekend – so I tried to rest as much as I could and make the most of it. I’m looking forward to going to Foxhills because it looks like a really nice track with some nice hills to go up and down, some nice jumps, and a bit of an old-school feel, so I’m really looking forward to it. My goal for the weekend is to try and find the flow with the track first, then make two consistent motos and save some energy for Sunday, which is the most important day. And if we can manage to be on the box, as we did in Montevarchi, that would be amazing.”

“As always, I spent the weekend off with training. I managed to do the Dutchmasters race last Sunday to slowly prepare for the sand. Hopefully the track will be prepared really well. For me, riding a new track is never a problem since I can adapt quickly. Getting those podiums was really special for me and I will remember it for my whole life, but now I have to focus on the next race already. For sure it has given me some clarity about what I can do on the bike, but I will ride this weekend like I always do.”

Karlis Reisulis

“I’ve spent my time training and racing, which is the best way to spend a weekend off the GPs. I really like going to the UK – Foxhills is a legendary track and I’m excited to race there. My goal is to be my best.”
