Herlings in For Lommel
Red Bull KTM factory rider Jeffrey Herlings has announced on his social media that he is in for Lommel this weekend. "See you again this weekend in Lommelwood." the five time World motocross champion said.
It will be interesting to see how he does having taken some GPs off to recover from his latest injury, but as we know, he can surprise us at any time.
Of course, the Dutchman won at Lommel last year with a 1-1 performance and also won in 2018. A circuit that he loves, but his condition might let him down. I for one, hope we see him battle up front and cause World title contenders, Lucas Coenen and Romain Febvre some problems.
The good news is, he will be more than ready to win when we head to Arnhem in a few weeks time. Lomme is always a better place with Jeffrey Herlings is involved.
Herlings took his first win at Lommel in 2011 and scored 1-2 results in the 2012 MXoN, but injuries ruled Herlings out of Lommel in 2014 and 2015. In 2017, Herlings added yet another victory to his long list of sand wins, beating Antonio Cairoli and Glenn Coldenhoff in the MXGP class, with Herlings going 1-1.
2018 and Herlings won again, this time 1-1 ahead of Cairoli. 2021 was the year of Romain Febvre, who won with 2-1 scores, but all eyes were on that guy, Herlings as he was coming back from injury and still went second overall with 1-5 results. Last year, it was that man Herlings who would win again in the deep sand, going 1-1.
