The second round of the Motul British Motocross Championship at Preston Docks was the perfect sand circuit for the Dutchman and it didn’t seem like he was really pushing too hard to get the win. Conrad Mewse finish second with Oriol Oliver a solid third place. Full Results Here: MOTUL MXGB

MX1 Moto One

Gilbert with the lead early in the opening 450 race, with Taylor Hammal, Ben Watson, Carlton Husband, Adam Sterry, Bobby Bruce, Charlier Cole, Jamie Carpenter, Mackenzie Marshall and Charlie Putnam 10th, Herlings quickly into 9th and Mewse in 14th.

Mistakes everywhere Watson makes a mistake and dropped to 11th and the new leader was Hammal, with Gilbert back in second, then back in the field. Crazy race until now, as on lap two it was Hammal, Husband, Oliver, Carpenter, Bruce, Herlings, Sterry, Mewse, Watson and Putnam 10th.

Oliver into second place and Herlings third, with Mewse fifth and Watson 8th. Herlings and Mewse flying as they are in third and fourth, with Sterry fifth and Watson sixth, so a lot could happen. Oliver into the lead and Herlings into second, with Mewse now third, Watson into fifth behind Hammal, and Sterry sixth.

Oliver doing his best to hold off Herlings and Mewse, not that far back, with Hammal and Watson next. Mewse the quickest lap of the moto and catching the two front men. Herlings all over the back wheel of Oliver and no doubt taking his time.

Top three now very close as Mewse showing his talent as he pulls up on Herlings, then Hammal, Watson, Sterry, Bruce, Carpenter, Husband and Edwards. Brilliant racing between the Spaniard, the Dutchman and the Brit. Herlings into the lead, doing what he always does.

Herlings not getting away from Oliver and Mewse not close enough to get Oliver, with Hammal, Watson and Sterry a distance back. Herlings a little further up the track now, with Oliver still fighting off Mewse, with Watson into fourth place with a pass on Hammal.

Mewse into second and its Honda first and second, with the KTM third. Mewse will without doubt try and get to Herlings and what a motivation that is for the British champion. Mewse all over Herlings, but a big mistake and lost some seconds on Herlings. You get the feeling Herlings will put the pedal down now.

Mewse continued to pressure Herlings for the lead, as Oliver has lost a lot of ground on the front two and Watson not really making time on the third placed man. Herlings wins it from Mewse and Oliver.
