Red Bull KTM factory rider, Simon Langenfelder is really warming up in the 2025 MXGP championship as the German rider took victory in the opening MX2 moto and also took the red plate, as former series leader and defending MX2 champion, Kay De Wolf crashed twice early in the moto, and was back in last.

The World champion finally got up to 14th place, but lost the red plate for the first time in around 15 months. Championship points are now Simon Längenfelder 399 points, Andrea Adamo 391pts, Kay de Wolf 390pts, Liam Everts 327pts and Thibault Benistant 288pts. Just nine points between the top three. Exciting stuff in 2025 in the 250 class.

Second in the moto was another man who passed De Wolf in the championship points, Andrea Adamo, who is looking very confident and consistent the last few GPs. Third was Valerio Lata on the HRC machine.

Simon Langenfelder: I was feeling great and this track suits me and technical, and a bit like Switzerland. I took the holeshot and took the win, so very happy.

MX2 Moto One

Benistant crashed into the first corner after a terrible start, but up front it was Langenfelder, De Wolf, Adamo, Lata, Oliver, Coenen, Everts, Valin, Zanchi and Valk. Benistant 23rd on the first lap, but then quickly into 20th place. Two Triumphs in trouble with Farres and McLellan in 13th and 14th positions.

De Wolf a crash and dropped back to eight place and on lap two the top ten was Langenfelder, Adamo, Lata, Coenen, Oliver, Everts, Valin, Zanchi, Grau and Farres and de Wolf crashed again and dropped back as his bike was stuck. De Wolf in last place. Benistant up to 16th. Drama at Ernee.

A great battle for third place as Lata trying to hold off Coenen, and behind them Oliver holding out Everts, with Grau, Zanchi and Farres in eight, ninth and 10th places. The lead by Langenfelder was four seconds over Adamo. De Wolf making little ground on the riders in front, but did clock the quickest lap of the moto.

After five laps it was Langenfelder with a 4.5 second lead over Adamo, with Lata 7.5 seconds back in third, then Coenen, Oliver, Valin, Everts, Grau, McLellan, and Farres. Benistant in 14th and de Wolf in 22nd place.

Adamo started cutting the lead of Langenfelder, with the gap just 3.5 seconds on lap seven, and Lata was nearly 10 seconds back in third. Benistant a long way behind Reisulis in 14th and de Wolf catching Olsson in 18th and looking for more GP points. De Wolf dropped back to 20th and Coenen crashed out of fourth place as Oliver moved into fourth.

Langenfelder back on course as the lead was 5.5 seconds over Adamo, with the two KTM riders being very consistent. Top ten on lap 10 was Langenfelder, Adamo, Lata, Oliver, Coenen, Valin, Everts, McLellan, Zanchi, and Farres. Benistant 14th still and de Wolf 18th and some points.

Langenfelder really looking strong as he extended the lead to 10.6 seconds over Adamo, with Lata in third 19 seconds back. Oliver was still leading Coenen, then Valin, Everts, McLellan, Zanchi, Farres in 10th and De Wolf into 17th and fighting hard. Everts crashed and dropped well back from Valin.

The German KTM rider now 14 seconds ahead of Adamo and Oliver all over Lata for third place. De Wolf up to 16th position and closing up on Valk for 15th position. Every point counts for the Dutchman. Benistant up to 11th after his first turn crash. Coenen also crashed and he dropped to sixth. This race is turning into a demolition derby. Langenfelder wins it from Adamo and Lata.
